How to be a PI of a diverse team?

The goal of the workshop webinar is to equip participants with practical knowledge on how to enhance diversity within teams and how to manage them, both as a member and as a leader/PI. Diversity can arise from personality differences, different working styles, but also from gender, age, cultural background, etc.

Innovative teams are built on diversity and certain conditions allow team members to work together in synergy and to perform at their top. During our course we will analyze the strengths and potential of the participants for effective teambuilding and team management, and learn the best practices for managing a diverse team.

The themes that will be covered during workshop can be used within:
- Effective team building while conducting research
- Fostering interpersonal relations with academics
- Planning your academic career
- Managing teamwork while dealing with intercultural/gender differences

Dr. Magdalena Żadkowska

Assistant Professor in Sociology Institute at University of Gdansk, Principle Investigator, Academic Teacher, Expert focused on women and men careers in STEM, diversity management, intimate relations and gender studies.


She conducts trainings on: Diversity Management, Intercultural Communication, Age Management, Work-Life-Balance & Male and Female Leadership. Principle Investigator and member of international projects.

Cooperates in international research projects with Norway, USA, Canada, UK, Italy, Romania, Chile and France. 

Expert in gender relations and status quo for: (1) Community of Practice (On the Way to Gender Equality – Community of Practice for Gender Equality in Central and Eastern Europe) of ActProject under grant agreement No 788 204 (introducing Mamorandumof Understanding for establishing Communities of PrACTice for advancing gender equality in RPOs and RFOs across Europefor at UG), (2) Gender Academy European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 824585, (3) National Researcher for  Gender-Sensitive Parliaments – EU 28 assessment, (4) National Researcher for COVID & Domestic Violence – EU 28 assessment.

As diversity expert she also co-authored the Integrative Model for Migrants for City of Gdańsk.

She is media expert for Gazeta Wyborcza, TVN, Radio Gdańsk, TVP Gdańsk.

 

Seven steps to engineer your presentation skills in the times of corona.

March 4th, 9:30 - 12:30

The training will focus on basic and advanced presentation skills and techniques: how to effectively manage "oneself and the content" during the online presentations/workshops etc.

During the workshop webinar we will focus on hints on how to master one’s self-presentation skill, with the special focus on online meetings. The main themes of the workshop will be:

- Getting to know one's (self)presentation strengths and determining the potential for development
- Getting acquainted with the tools for building a structure and content of an effective presentation.
- Getting to know different techniques of building the right impression, attracting attention and influencing others during the presentation.
- Creating a set of good practices for dealing with "difficult" participants of the presentation
- Managing stress during presentations
- Appealing to diverse audiences

Dr. habil. Natasza
Kosakowska-Berezecka

Diversity & Inclusion expert, motivational speaker, trainer, HR consultant and mediator


Natasza Kosakowska-Berezecka holds a PhD in Psychology and works as an Associate Professor in the Division of Cross-Cultural Psychology and Psychology of Gender at the University of Gdańsk.

Her main area of practice and research is diversity and work-life balance within the area of cross-cultural psychology. Her special interests are mechanisms of bias, social change and organizational cues fostering social capital and diversity within organizations and societies across the world. She gained her expertise working for e.g. ABB, BPH, BRE Leasing, BRE BANK, Det Norske Veritas, Deloitte, DR IRENA ERIS, Energa, European Solidarity Center, Farm Frites, Fundacja Gospodarcza, Gdańska Fundacja Przedsiębiorczości, GFKM, HBSC, Intel, Loreal, LOTOS, LPP, MPK Łódź, NSZZ Solidarność, Polkomtel SA, Remontowa Shipbuilding, Schenker, Thomson Reuters, Ulstein, Wojewódzki Urząd Pracy.

She also has a leading role of the Principal Investigator in two international consortiums: PAR Migration Navigator focused on factors fostering gender equality and work-life balance, and Towards Gender Harmony, where with her team she currently analyzes profits of gender equality for men and women (www.towardsgenderharmony.ug.edu.pl).

As diversity expert she also co-authored the Integrative Model for Migrants for City of Gdańsk.
